Shopping UK is an advert-supported free app with the option of a premium subscription to remove adverts. It is built by BlackJet Software Ltd to help you manage your shopping lists. This service is provided by BlackJet Software and is intended for use as is.
This page describes our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of any information you might provide to the Shopping UK app.
When Shopping UK is being used, anonymous usage data will be occasionally sent to BlackJet Software. This data is used by us to help guide decisions on new features, to enhance the app’s usability, and to improve the app’s built-in database of products.
To improve the suggestions and categorisation features, the items on your shopping list (e.g. bread, milk, apples), and the category you have assigned (e.g. Bakery, Dairy, Fresh Fruit) will be collected by Shopping UK for anonymous aggregation. This data is never associated with you as an individual, and is used by us to improve the built-in dictionary, and refine the accuracy of the categorisation of items in future versions of the Shopping UK app.
If you choose to use the list sharing feature, the name you provide (typically your first name or nickname), and the list’s contents (i.e. the items to purchase) will be stored centrally, and will be automatically synchronised with the people and devices that you have chosen to invite as members of your list. If you later choose to stop sharing the list, your name will be removed but other members will still have access to the contents of the list that were present at the time you left. We will automatically remove any list that has not had any activity for three months. When a list is removed, the name you entered and any shopping items on the list will also be removed.
While using Shopping UK, the app may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device’s unique device ID, the IP address of your mobile device, your mobile operating system and version, and information about the way you use the app (for example, which features are most commonly used, performance-related statistics to help identify areas of the app that are slow, and crash reports to help us diagnose and fix problems). We use third-party analytics companies to help us collect this data.
BlackJet Software may choose to publish or sell anonymous aggregate data regarding the popularity of different shopping items and statistics about the app’s usage. For example, what are the top 50 most popular items purchased this week?, when is the most popular time and day to shop?, or what percentage of users are using the latest iOS version? This data will never contain any personally identifiable information.
Shopping UK may occasionally show you adverts provided by third party companies. Information about items in your list (e.g. bread, milk, apples) and an advertising identifier unique to your device may be sent to the company that provides the adverts to help ensure adverts are relevant to you.
Precise location information is not captured by the app at this time.
In the future. we may introduce new features that require location data to be captured. If this happens, you will be informed and asked for your consent by the app. If you choose not to give your permission, certain features may be disabled.
Yes, but only in ways described by this privacy policy.
We may disclose information you provide, or automatically collected information:
Shopping UK may send a unique randomly generated device id (the iOS Advertising Identifier) and details of items in your shopping list to trusted third party advertising companies to provide tailored adverts while you are using the app.
Adverts can be removed by purchasing a premium subscription. No information will be sent to third party advertising companies while a premium subscription is active.
At any time, you can stop all collection of information by uninstalling the app from your device. If you use the list sharing feature and wish to clear any items you’ve added to the list, you should do this before uninstalling the app (but first clear the list, then leave the list by pressing the Stop Sharing button). Note that clearing the list will also remove items from the devices of the other members that are sharing the list.
We will retain user provided data for as long as you use the app and for up to three months afterwards. We will retain automatically collected information for up to 24 months and thereafter may store it in aggregate.
We are concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. We provide physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information we process and maintain. For example, we limit access to this information to authorised employees and contractors who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve the app. Please be aware that, although we endeavour to provide reasonable security for information we process and maintain, no security system can prevent all potential security breaches.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time for any reason. We will notify you of any changes to the policy by posting them here. You are advised to consult this Privacy Policy regularly for any changes, as continued use is deemed approval of all changes.
By using the Shopping UK App, you agree and consent to the transmission, collection, maintenance, processing and use of this information as described above by BlackJet Software and its trusted service providers.
